Daniel Verschueren

This is a basic website with information about me and a repository of stuff that I find useful. I hope you find some of it useful too!

Born and raised in the beautiful town of Nijmegen in Holland, I am a scientist with a background in experimental biophysics. After completing my physics degree at the University of Oxford and my chemistry degree at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, I performed my doctorate research at the TU Delft under the supervision of prof. dr. Cees Dekker and dr. Magnus Jonsson. There, I investigated and developed plasmonic nanopores for biosensing, elegant little tools to study single molecules. You can find out more about in the science section of this website if you are interested! Oh and if you are interested in me, take my CV

I am fascinated about the complexity of the world around us. Every little thing has so much structure and purpose to it, no matter if constructed by nature or made by mankind. How we can use the things we have learned about this world to make that globe a better place? That is something that fascinates and drives me. Join me in on the ride! My particular interests are in nanotechnology, physics, single-molecule studies, biophysics, nanophotonics, machine learning and electronics. I also very much enjoy football, skiing, running, and hiking. Oh and playing around with my Arduino, even though I'm still a noob at it.

Please also check out my friends' websites! They interest me a lot, so they should interest you too.

  • Xin Shi: Xin is a good friend of mine, who I have been working together with closely during my PhD and on little projects thereafter. He's an incredibly clever mind, with many cool ideas and interesting insights. He's currently a postdoc at the TU Delft, Holland. Check out his website!
  • Attila van Dijk: Attila is a good friend and a very thoughtful and creative designer. He provides custom solutions for graphic, website, and interaction design. He specializes in design for food preparation and consumption and is, needless to say, himself an excellent chef.
  • Magnus Jonsson: Magnus has been an excellent supervisor for my during my PhD. A very kind mind with an incredible patience, he is currently running a research group working on smart optical materials at the Uni of Linkopping, Sweden.
